Boy Scout Centennial

Tomorrow is the official Centennial of the Boy Scouts of America.

I was a Cub Scout, Webelos, and Boy Scout in the 30th Senate District for a decade.   My mom was an active Cub Scout and Webelos leader at Wiley Post Elementary in the 30th District.  My grandfather was a member of the original American troop in Pawhuska that actually predates the “official” first troop.  The ideals and mentorship of Scouting were a significant factor in my upbringing.

And so, from memory, I give you the Boy Scout Oath:

“On my honor, I will do my best, to do my duty to God and my country, and to obey the Scout law; to help other people at all times; to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.”

Happy Birthday, Boy Scouts of America.
