Today, I spoke to the Northwest OKC GOP Club over lunch. Many thanks to Tom Roach and his members for turning out.
This evening, I participated in the Northwest Chamber candidate forum. It was an honor. Many thanks to Jill McCartney, Larissa Rhodes, Mark Williams, Jeff Knapp and Jim Benson for putting it together, and to Alex Cameron for doing a great job as moderator.

Spent this evening at the Northwest Chamber’s annual banquet.
The Chamber covers Bethany, Warr Acres and NW OKC, essentially the boundaries of the 30th Senate District.
Tonight we thanked Glenn Coffee for his 12 years of service as our State Senator. He told the room that “this seat belongs to this community.” As a lifelong resident of this community, I couldn’t agree more.
Thank you for your service, Glenn.

The Northwest Chamber celebrated its 70th birthday tonight with a party at the Chesapeake Boathouse. The organization started as the Bethany Commercial Club in 1939 and became the Northwest Chamber in 2003. I serve on the board and read a proclamation tonight declaring today “Northwest Chamber Day” in Oklahoma City. Happy birthday! Happy Northwest Chamber Day!

I attended a speech this past week by Mayor Bryan Taylor of Bethany. He was addressing the Northwest Chamber, where I serve on the board. Mayor Taylor is a great leader for Bethany, knowledgable and passionate. And he makes a great team with City Manager John Shugart.
I am honored to have Mayor Taylor’s support in my State Senate campaign.
I recently attended two Northwest Chamber ribbon cuttings in Bethany. The first was at a new Falcone’s location on 39th. And then later in the week and a little farther to the west, Southwestern Christian University opened its new adult education facility.

CHAMBER
There are two institutions that serve as the community centers of the Thirtieth Senate District - the Putnam City School District and the Northwest Chamber. They have the same boundaries and they cover virtually the entire Senate district. I am honored to serve on the board of the Putnam City Public Schools Foundation and the board of the Northwest Chamber.
Today I had lunch at the Northwest Chamber’s annual State of the State event, where we heard from our excellent delegation to the legislature. I want to commend CEO Jill McCartney and Chairman Jane Haskin of First Bethany Bank & Trust for their stewardship of the organization, and for the great program they put together today.
This evening I attended the Putnam City School Board meeting. My mother was very active in the PTA and involved in many education issues in the School District when I was growing up, so I spent a considerable amount of my childhood at Ann Arbor and 40th. It’s an honor to again be so intimately connected with the School District. I want to commend Superintendent Paul Hurst and the School Board for their excellent leadership. They and the Putnam City staff are engaged in the most critical work imaginable. And I am especially grateful for the School Board members - Gail LoPresto, Julie Jenison, Mark Bledsoe, Becky Haliburton and Tammy West - who volunteer their time to serve our kids. Some might say it’s a thankless job, but they have mine.
